Operation Sindoor: India Launches Precision Strikes in Pakistan

On May 7, 2025, India initiated "Operation Sindoor," a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation was a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, where 26 Indian tourists were killed by militants. The Indian Air Force deployed Rafale jets equipped with SCALP missiles and AASM Hammer bombs to strike nine locations, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad, known hubs for groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

India described the strikes as "focused, measured, and non-escalatory," emphasizing that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. However, Pakistan reported civilian casualties, including damage to a mosque in Muzaffarabad. In retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian jets and vowed to respond to what it termed an "act of war." The situation has escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, with international leaders urging restraint
